Changing Spaces

Had a pretty good Ostara this year. Got the BBQ grill out (it's a teeeeeeny one) and grilled some hamburgers and hotdogs. I also made this really fantastic strawberry pie. (It was sugar free tattodnanny) It was my first attempt at one and I have to say that I think I outdid myself. Of course, the strawberries themselves were so sweet and juicy (not the least bit tart) that it probably would have taken alot to make them NOT taste good.

Since the girl child was sick yesterday, we stayed home from church. The Bear and myself spent all day rearanging the living room and getting rid of old furniture and replacing them with some ones that provided more space.

We got a new dinning set that was about two-thirds the size of the previous one. It's a dark cherry color (my favorite) and it fits so much better, freeing up some more space.

We also got two new book shelf units. It's amazing how much literature the two of us combined have accumulated!

A new entertainment center that has drawers and shelves galore. (Almost all of our VHS and DVD's fit in it!)

One of my college friends and her beau showed up right in the middle of our tearing apart the living space. (I haven't seen her since The Bear and I tied the knot) Seeming as she is about 5 months pregnant we had to do some fast clearing of sitting space so she could have a comfortable seat. Her beau sat on the floor like we did.

It was a nice visit. The Bear and The Beau got into a deep disscusion of Anne Rices' Vampire series and me and College Mommy was disscusing one of the Star Trek book series.

College Mommy and myself met through a Star Trek writing club. We got our creative writing on the sci-fi way. Round about the second or third year a writer for the ST: Deep Space Nine series joined the club anonymously and wrote for about a year with us. When he left the club he told us who he was. A few months later one of our stories ended up on TV.

A couple of years ago, Peter David started a new ST book series called The New Frontier. I fell in love with the series with the first book. About half way through it I realized why. The names were changed and some other small details were changed, but it was all our old stories. It brought back alot of good memories.

We were talking about getting up the old members of the club and starting anew. It could be so much fun. (Plus we need to give Peter David some more material to write!)
