Closet Land

I got googled today for "archtypical characters". I was number one on the list too. Not as cool or perverse as some googles, but hey, at least I got googled.

Has anyone seen "Closet Land"? (Yes, sillies. Alan was starring in it!) It's a very disturbing look at what could happen if torture was an accepted practice in our society. (Proceeds went to Amnesty International) It centers around a childrens wirter that is thought to have put subversive messages in her stories to pervert the minds of children into rebeling against the government.

The entire story takes place in a single room and the only actors are Alan (the chief officer in charge) and Madeleine Stowe (the author of childrens books). It's very dark, disturbing and at some points graphic. And be forewarned, there is NO happy ending here. An ending that reaffirms the human spirit's strength, but not a happy ending all the same.

It was a thought provoking movie, but one that was horrific as well. It shows one so much of the human atrocity that is in the world, if one only opens their eyes to see it.

I wouldn't let the kids anywhere near this one.
