Celestial Show

Yay! I worked half a day this morning, leaving me tonight and tomorrow all to myself. (Of course, this would be better if the kids had school tomorrow. Which they don't.)

Had a better time at work last night than I thought I would. It was busy, but not busy enough to preclude me watching the lunar eclipse. It was the first time in a long time I got to watch the whole process from start to finsh. It made the night go by much faster and more enjoyable.

It was amazing how many people around here were not only aware of the eclipse, but were actually enjoying it as I was. Most of the time, unless it's a sporting event or a scandal, the goings on of the world in large seems to be ignored or neglected in this Goddess Forsaken Town.

It was refreshing to see the children and adults alike come rushing in the store, hurrying to get their drinks or snacks. All of them filled with a certain awe and excitement, eager to get back to the celestial show.

The moon has been symbolic for so many things in so many times. The eternal dance of Sol and Selene played out on the magifigant tapestry of Father Sky. It's importance to me and my own personal beliefs aside, watching the effect on the people of this town was an uplifting experience.

They may not believe in the same theology I do, and I doubt they would ever acredit the experience to a spiritual nature, but they never the less felt the tides and rythms of the Earth and the Universe last night, and celebrated it. The ideas and philosophies might be lost to them but they can still feel it, and along with them I could feel a connection that covered distances and seperations, for a fleeting time drawing us all together.
