Tarot: First Card

2005-07-21 at 3:46 p.m.

Self: Ten of Swords
Main (positional) meaning | General | Position

You are up against the wall, and it is appropriate to admit it.

The card in the Self position reveals aspects of how you perceive yourself right now.

The Ten of Swords in this position signifies a sense of grim relief. At this point you are no longer obligated to exert any more effort because there is nothing more you can do. Under the circumstances, no one can rationally expect you to have any power to change the situation.

In a sense, you are free. You may be in shock, flattened, but that is understandable and acceptable. It is best not to try to do anything about your condition at this time. This card gives you permission to surrender to the inevitable. Be assured that in time you will recover, you will again have some wind behind your sails. But for the present, you're just knocked out. Admit it and go with it -- what else can you do?

This was my first card of my Tarot reading today. Remember when I said I didn't have any direction to go in?

I guess it really is ok to stay where I am for a little while.

drinking: Lite Hawiian Punch
listening to: HP and the Prisoner of Azkaban soundtrack
thinking: Not a whole lot
