2005?

Next week is going to be a hard one. Mom is going in for back surgery on the eleventh. She's had quite a few surgeries in the last couple of years which she felt were all cake walks. This one is scaring her. It's basically the same thing they did to her neck last year (fixing some of the nerves and installing a cage around that part of the upper spine) only lower in her back.

The doctors all feel good about the procedure and says she's in just as good a condition, if not better than when she had her last surgery. All her pretests have come back great.

The surgery is the day before The Siblings birthday and I know she's worried about that. First, she's upset that she won't be able to do anything for him. She always makes sure these milestones are celebrated, even in small ways. Second, she's scared that if something DOES go wrong, it'll ruin his birthday forever more.

I'm starting to get scared just because she is. She is so convinced that this is going to turn out bad. I really hope it doesn't. My Mother and I have a lot of troubled water under our bridge, but she's also one of my best friends and I don't know what I'd do if this turns out the way she expects it too.

You know, I think 2004 is turning out to be one pisser of a year. Any way to just skip over it and go straight to 2005?
